Melamine Dinnerware
Melamine dinnerware can be a lot of fun for a number of different reasons. Whenever I think of these types of dishes I think of a sort of playfulness and casualness that you don't get in more formal types of dishes which I suppose is why we like them so much!
Today I'm going to talk about melamine dishes in as much detail as possible giving you several examples of some of the most popular options available as well as a frank discussion of the prices you can expect to run up against so that you can have a fairly good idea of what you can expect as far as options and prices go so that you find the exact dishes that are right for you to fit your budget.
Melamine Dinnerware, Plates, 7-1/4" Diameter, White, 12 per Pack KMOPH230 by Komodo this set cost just $38 and is a fairly regular set for the price. These dishes will last a very long time because of the sturdy construction that they employ. These dishes are simple white in design with no design elements of any kind on them. These come in a pack which is slightly unusual but there are 12 pieces in each pack and are made up of plates, bowls, and mugs.
Melamine 12-pc. Dinnerware Set - Black by Inno-Art Corp. this company makes many different designs when it comes to melamine and for the price you can't go wrong. This set costs $25 and is made up of the Asian square design that has become so popular in recent years. The dishes are completely black which makes them very elegant looking but fun at the same time. These are definitely casual pieces and includes square dinner plates, square salad plates, and square bowls. They are dishwasher safe but they are not for use in microwave.
Zak Designs Solid White 12-Piece Set, Service for 4 at $24 this is a pretty nice set that is made up of simple white pieces with no design patterns. It comes with a dinner plate, salad plate, and a bowl for each setting. The great thing about these pieces is that you can use them on their own but because of their simple design you can also use them to coordinate with many other sets you may have already. They are made of 100% melamine and are dishwasher safe.
Rimmed Melamine Dinnerware Set of 12 - Brown also by Inno Art is this $32 set that is identical to the second set I described on this page except instead of being all-black this has a funky pattern and design that will immediately make it stand out from anything else in your cabinet. The square plates are banded in a sort of dark chocolate brown with an orange stripe along the side separating the brown stripe from the inner white of the plate. Likewise the bowl is covered in the same chocolate brown on the outside with white interior.
So there you have several melamine dinnerware options to choose from and a pretty good idea of the price ranging from around $20 to up to $40 or so depending on how stylish you want to plates to look. One thing about these plates is for sure, and that is that they will hold up for many years of enjoyable use and continue to keep their style.
